Volunteer Co-ordinator £24k
The Manchester International Festival is looking to appoint a Volunteer Co-ordinator to set up and manage a volunteer scheme for the Festival and to work as a key member of the Festival Team.
We are looking for someone with a background in human resources and ideally with experience of working with volunteers.
The Festival volunteer scheme is sponsored by United Utilities, one of the Festival’s top tier sponsors, and the Volunteer Co-ordinator will need to work closely with staff and volunteers from United Utilities as well as developing relationships with other partners and agencies where appropriate.
We need someone with experience of recruitment, planning and implementing training and induction schemes and managing staff/volunteers as well as good organisation and communication skills and an interest in arts and culture.

The Smiths is Dead: Iconic Images from the ‘Dirty Old Town’

The exhibition ‘Dirty Old Town’ is set in the Billiards Room and celebrates the significance of the area’s red brick streets. Artist Leslie Holmes has collected together a unique collection of archive photographs and pictures by local residents. A place that inspired ‘Coronation Street’ ‘A taste of Honey’ ‘East is East’ and ‘Dirty Old Town’. Downstairs in the Smiths Room, fans and club volunteers describe the impact of Stephen Wrights famous image of the Smiths outside Salford Lads Club in 1986 and its effect today. Exhibition dates 16,17,18,24,25 June 12- 4 Free

The exhibition is supported by Urban Splash and Salford City Council and is part of the Arts Councils 10 year celebration of Architecture Week
Coal Fields Regeneration Trust CRIIS has been successful in our bid to secure Salford’s recognition as a coalfield area, in the shape of a bid to deliver a 2 year project with Film. The Trust awarded CRIIS the funds after a successful bid to their board to work with young people and long-term unemployed in Coalfield areas of Salford and Leigh – specifically the Higher Folds Estate. This project will see the making of 6 short films and the re training and engagement of over a 100 local people. We have now taken on a part time Development Worker to help deliver this project, and after the 4th April will be looking to find participants from the areas to work with. We are specifically looking to work in Little Hulton, North Walkden and Clifton/Pendlebury in Salford.
